Park manners in Kenya

The Kenya Wildlife Service spends a considerable amount of time and resources each year in wildlife conservation efforts. This is inline with the Governments realization of the importance of preserving natural habitat and wildlife. Poaching had resulted in some animal species being declared endangered.

The parks are now flourishing with large numbers of wildlife to view. You should not feed the animals as this tampers with their normal feeding cycles and results in their dependence on humans for food. Some baboons have already begun to show such tendencies and may become aggressive if not fed.

Fires spread easily especially during the dry season. A number of fires in parks have been lit by negligent smokers. You should completely extinguish your cigarettes and use an ashtray while in the parks.

You should also not drive-up to close to wildlife especially during; breeding or feeding times, it is important to keep a safe distance so as not to deter nature. Drive within designated paths so as not to damage vegetation.
