Popular Game Parks in Kenya

Home to over 40 parks and reserves, it can prove to be a bit difficult to decide which park or reserve to visit. It all boils down to convenience and if you want to view specific wildlife. Some parks and reserves are home to some excellent lodges and tented camps where you can have a hot shower, cold beer and buffet breakfast in the wilderness.

Transport to most parks is either by road or if in a group you can charter a flight from the Wilson Airport. Most parks in the country have a number of airstrips normally for administration purpose and can be used by visitors.

The Tsavo is the largest national park divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West parks. The Tsavo East is the more popular of the two with large populations of wildlife. Here you will also find the Lugard Falls named after Frederick Lugard a British Missionary who discovered them. This park has sixteen airstrips and quality lodge accommodation.

The Amboseli on the Kenya-Tanzania border is a popular park teaming with wildlife. Here you can also visit the nearby Masai villages.

The Masai Mara is another popular park for its wildlife and hot air balloon safaris.
Other major parks include; Lake Nakuru, Buffalo Springs, Mount Kenya, Mount Elgon, Shimba Hills Reserve and the Aberdares.
